Welcome to the GEFS (Global Ensemble Forecast System). Ensemble forecasts attempt to address the uncertain nature within the operation model. Ensemble forecasts are a good tool for spotting outliers in operation model runs but also are very good at spotting trends in the long term. We run mean charts, ensemble graphs and anomalies vs climatological data.
