Isolated heavy thunderstorms may develop across central southern parts of England today, whilst development today is expected to be more isolated, there is still a moderate risk in place as any thunderstorms that do develop are likely to be severe in nature. Around 1200-1500 j/kg of ML cape with a negative lifted index is being predicted by the high resolution models.

 

A low risk is in place for Wales, SW England and SE England for isolated cells/storms popping up during the late afternoon/early evening period.

 

There is also a low risk of activity over the near continent (NE France & Belgium) working its way west to affect some southern coastal counties of England later tonight and into the early hours of tomorrow morning, however there is a lot of uncertainty with regards to this.
