UK Weather Forecast – Monday 9th May
SYNOPTIC SUMMARY
Frontal system affecting northwestern areas including Scotland to start the day. Higher pressure across England and Wales slowing down the advancing front through the day, however, eventually lower pressure winning out from the west/north-west with some wet weather moving into NW/N England, Wales and SW England tonight. The high pressure to the south and east of the UK certainly decaying the system as it advances.
TODAY’S FORECAST
A wet start for northwest Scotland, W Scotland and Northern Ireland with some patchy rain moving into SW Scotland this morning. For much of England and Wales it is a bright and dry start to the day. A chillier start to the day for eastern and southeastern areas where we’ve seen a very local ground frost in the extreme south-east overnight.
Any local mist and fog patches, mainly affecting southern and eastern areas burning off this morning to leave a bright day of weather. Throughout late morning and afternoon period we may see some patchy rain affecting Wales and SW England with thicker cloud ahead of the approaching frontal system. Much of England and Wales staying dry, however temperatures certainly better the further east you go.
For southern and eastern areas on a whole temperatures widely ranging from 18-20c, locally in the south-east we may push 22c today.Cooler the further north and west you go, especially where we see more in the way of cloud cover and rain.
Tonight we see rain moving into SW England, Wales and NW England, which will push eastwards, whilst becoming increasingly patchy in nature as it moves east of the pennines.
