SYNOPTIC SUMMARY
Low pressure still in charge with frontal systems moving west to east across the United Kingdom this morning. The rain becoming increasingly lighter and patchy in nature as it moves into central and eastern areas. The wettest weather will be across parts of Scotland today.Showers will move in-behind any frontal systems. Further wet weather moving in to northern areas overnight into tomorrow morning. Higher pressure ridges across the UK come the weekend period.
THE FORECAST
Extensive cloud cover across the United Kingdom this morning with the main bulk of wet weather across the south-west of England, western areas and the far north and north-west including Scotland.The patchy rain will continue to move eastwards through this morning, breaking up and becoming increasingly lighter as it reaches central and eastern areas.
In-behind the patchy rain we’ll see conditions improve for many with just the odd shower expected here and there, though conditions in general will be a cloudy theme today. We will see some pockets of brightness at times, more so in parts of the west and central areas later in the day, however, by the time we see much clearer spells developing it will be into this evening!
Further rainfall is to be expected throughout today in NW and W Scotland, including the western isles of Scotland. A few showers for Northern Ireland too before another system makes its way in off the Atlantic later tonight and into the early hours of tomorrow morning.
Winds from the SW/WSW and generally light to start, however, for Irish sea coasts and northern and western areas in general, winds will be fresh and gusty at times later in the morning with fresher/slightly stronger winds then moving across the United Kingdom.
Temperature values down of late with maximums ranging from 12-17c. Coolest temperatures in the north and west, especially under any rainfall. Slightly milder temperatures will be across central and eastern areas, especially where we see any brightness developing through the day, however, forecast models do suggest a rather cloudy one with variable amounts at times.
